How to Play Wittz
Wittz is a fast-paced party word game for 3–12 players. Get a prompt, write the funniest phrase, and vote for the best — playable free in your browser or on iPhone. Here's everything you need to know in 60 seconds.
The rules
Join or create a room
Create a room and share the 6-digit code or invite link, or join a friend's game. You need at least 3 players; up to 12 can play.
Read the prompt
Every round opens with a prompt — anything from "What's the worst advice you could give a time traveler?" to "My toxic trait is ______".
Write your phrase
You have about 25 seconds to write the funniest answer you can, up to 200 characters. Speed matters — but wit matters more.
Vote for the best
Everyone's answers appear anonymously. Vote for your favorite. You can't vote for your own, and only players who submitted can vote.
Score points and win
The round winner keeps their votes plus a 2-vote bonus. First player to 20 votes wins the game.
Tips for winning
- Subvert the prompt. The obvious answer never wins — the twist on the obvious answer does.
- Short beats long. Punchlines land harder in ten words than in forty.
- Know your room. Inside jokes crush with friends; absurdist one-liners win with strangers.
- Submit early, edit later. You can update your answer until the timer runs out.
- Play ranked. Once you've got the rhythm, ranked lobbies and the global leaderboard are where reputations are made.
Game modes
Casual rooms are for playing with friends — create a private room and share the invite link, or browse public lobbies. Ranked lobbies pit you against the community with an ELO-style rating and seasonal leaderboards. Groups let you keep a standing crew with its own games and stats.
